As beaches loose their lifeguards for the season, there still seems to be a number of bathers in the waters. In the last two weeks at least three tagged Great Whites have been active in the waters between Montauk and Asbury Park.
Martha, a 7′ female. has pinged off Long Branch and East Hampton. Juvinile 4′ male, Brunswick I is currently off Montauk, and the 10′ female, Miss May has been cruising well off the Jersey Shore.
This has been a very unusual beach season, and the danger of incident raises greatly with no lifeguards on duty. Gamefish are becoming abundant as are pods of dolphins. Any remaining lifeguard stations should remain vigilant for sightings.
