As the Spring comes to a rather cold end, we are starting to see signs that the big fish are coming back. This week there are been large numbers of dear Menhaden (Mossbunkers) in the Navesink River. It is always sad to see the dead fish floating after dying of oxygen deprivation. Many can still be seen taking their last breaths at the surface before succumbing to their fate. As horrible as these almost annual fish die offs are, they do signal the arrival of larger fish including sharks.
